Zoar might seem to be an unusual name for a church. In the Old Testament, the word “Zoar” signifies a place, but at its root it is a word that means “little” or “young in age.” The congregation here at Zoar is not necessarily little or young in age, but we do hope that you would find our church to be a welcoming community, not too big to overlook anyone who might visit us. Some of us are indeed young and some of us are not so young. At Zoar Baptist Church we want to minister to all, from infants to senior adults.
In the book of the prophet Isaiah, the prophet notes that fugitives from the land of Moab “flee to Zoar.” At Zoar Baptist Church we strive to be a source of God’s peace and grace and to welcome people into a refuge from the chaotic world around us. Our vision is “to see our church and community transformed as we become more like Jesus Christ and lead others to him.” Please come join us in this journey of transformation.
Blessings,
Dr. Jim McConnell, Interim Pastor
